Cumberland River Run Kayak and Canoe Race

The Cumberland River Run Canoe & Kayak Race is hosted by Barbourville Tourism and Appalachian Restoration Project. The race consists of 5 miles of river, ranging from calm water to beginner-level rapids. The race starts at the Artemus Bridge in Knox County and finishes in Knox County at the Thompson RV Park. “Bragging rights” and awards are presented at the end of the race.

Cool off at the Splash Pad at Thompson Park. Drive along the Boone Trace, Wilderness Road and Warrior’s Path, some of the oldest roads in Southeastern Kentucky.  Walk through town and view the street murals that depict the history of the region and the people. Be sure to visit Umbrella Alley located at Coles Court and the murals painted along the “Selfie Crawl” in The Square Art District in Downtown Barbourville.
